About

Now this is awkward, been doing this for some time now without specifying what it is what I do. So let us change that.

Feckblog is a collection of links / articles / rants that I find interesting. Most of these are about gender equality from a masculist point of view. I would like to call myself egalitarian but fear I am a bit too biased for that. It was worse though. I believe the topic of gender equality is something one has to learn and when I started I was certainly more radical, reading a lot both from feminist and MRA sources, the radical and the moderate stuff and forming an opinion. I recently came across an old article I have reposted here, which I must have liked during that time, but looking at it again, horrible. I had a "what was I thinking" reaction, which puts me in the unfortunate position to distance myself from some of the stuff I have written *uhm* myself. It isn't that big of a deal though, history has told me that this place is not that traffic heavy (it is really a place for me to look up statistics) so I will delete some brainfarts when I come across them again.

My position on feminism, I agree with most of it, yet see it critical when it comes to men's rights. Feminism has certainly been problematic in this regard.

Personally I am a happily married guy with one very lively daughter, almost in my thirties and from Germany. Oh and I program for a living. Why I post so US-centric and not more about Germany, good question, well, I would say there is so much more going on on your side of the big pond, and it also helps me with my English.

Any questions?

I am curious.. how much of feminism is there that doesnt impinge on male rights?
I am also very curious about feminism in the non-anglosphere, such as france and germany. How are gender relations in germany?
Can you also give a pointer to that old "what was I thinking article"?

    Thx

    >I am curious.. how much of feminism is there that doesnt impinge on male rights?

    What are you getting it?

It varies. There is a difference if you live in the bible belt (or in a small town in Bavaria) or in NYC (Berlin). There is much less about gender relation online it seems (or I might not be that active in said communities).

As I deleted it, nope. What was the gist of it. Well back in the days I used to pick up more opinion pieces than facts. You have to "learn" these things, develop a viewpoint. I found this post interesting back then, after reading it a few years later it did leave a sour taste in my mouth. Picture an opinion piece by a frustrated man that equalizes feminists with the devil. There was a grain of truth in that article but also black and white thinking and a complete lack of data (which I focus on mostly).

Right here, yes. It seems as this is a page (and not a regular blog post) the link does not work. If you want to subscribe to a regular post this should work. Besides that, I'll be honest, there is not much discussion going on here.

I mean.. the core of feminism itself is utterly flawed.. oppression over the ages, male-privilege (but no comparable female privilege), rape culture, toxic-masculinity (but no aspects of femininity that are toxic) and so on. All target men.
Non-male-targeting stuff I have read about feminism.. such as post-modernism (which attacks science) is utter bunkum.

I see a post where you list achievements for women.. basically the freeing of women from gender roles.

Sure.. who wouldnt agree with freeing from gender roles. But they squarely put the blame on men. Thats why I was wondering what else is there to feminism.

    2. I think I pretty much gave my position on the post you linked:

"I read feministing regularly and can mostly agree with what they are saying (I don't read the community posts, that is probably a very different beast), especially their opposition to "pro-life laws" (I am pro-choice), most stuff on politics, the stuff on body acceptance, sex-positivity, pro-transgender, anti-racism etc."

To what degree "they squarely put the blame on men" is debatable and quite frankly depends on the feminist at hand. There are egalitarian, gynocentric and radical feminists. Second wave, third wave, strawman, stupid, smart feminists. They come in all flavors (just like your typical MRA), did you know the one person who brought up male victims of DV, Murray Straus, identifies as a feminist?

If you watch around the Internet for debates on gender you will certainly come across feminists saying "MRAs are the devil" and MRAs saying "feminists are the devil". I am tired of that and therefor try to avoid "feminists this, MRAs that" generalizations. Usually it is not that simple.

  4. Anonoymous just for the moment... I've just discovered your blog (and I have only recently discovered MRA, PUA, Patriarchy blogs and have been somewhat obsessively reading them) and look forward to reading more of it. Merry Chirstmas!

  5. I don't know if you still pay any attention to gender matter, but I just wanted to let you know that after some gentle prodding I've put up my own blog (at the moment just slowly archiving my more substantial comments from various blogs) at http://tamenwrote.wordpress.com

Your blog and the impressive amount of citations and facts you've located and presented here has been an inspiration.
